Northern Westchester hospital is very excited to announce the formation of our new Hand Surgery Service. This will solidify Northern Westchester Hospital’s position as the premiere destination for hand and wrist injuries by providing 24/7 emergency coverage with specialty-trained hand surgeons. As the Director of the Hand Surgery Service, Dr. Ari Mayerfield relates “This will allow the hospital to leverage excellent existing resources in Radiology, Occupational (hand) therapy, and cutting edge surgical care to provide our community with the most comprehensive hand care available in the region.” Ari L. Mayerfield, MD, is a microsurgeon specializing in all conditions affecting the hand, wrist and peripheral nerves of the upper extremity (arm, elbow and shoulder). He also serves as an assistant professor of surgery at New York Medical College. Dr. Mayerfield completed his fellowship at the world-renowned Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Louisville. He completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he was awarded a Best Teacher distinction while serving as Chief Resident.
